PARTY FOR THE PLANET -
Great Local Music & Beer on Friday & Saturday, 7-11 PM

Rochester Mills Beer Co. and Mind Body & Spirits restaurants in partner with CHUM Radio stations 89X (88.7 FM CIMX) & The River  (93.9 FM CIDR) present the Party for the Planet (P4P) at this year’s MI Earth Day Festival April 23 and 24. The two night event brings together live local music performances and local organic beers with proceeds benefitting the Mind Body & Spirits Greenhouse Grant Initiative.

Rochester Mills Beer Co., is one of Michigan’s largest brewpubs known as much for its handcrafted lagers and ales as it is for its community based events. As the host for the P4P event, the Mills will produce two music-filled nights taking place in the Oktoberfest style beer tent in the rear parking lot, located at 400 Water Street. Tickets are $10 per person for each show that runs from 7 - 11 PM. Doors open at 6 PM. Space is limited to 1,000 in the tent. 18 and up are welcome.

Advanced tickets are available exclusively at the Rochester Mills Beer Co. and Mind Body & Spirits restaurants in downtown Rochester.

Rochester Mills’ head Brewer Eric Briggeman has prepared fresh batches of Rochester Red (English-style red—local ale), Harvest Lite (American-style light beer—local & organic ale), Wit’s Organic (American-style Witbier—local & organic ale), and Sacrilicious Stout (Dry Stout— local & organic ale) to be offered under the tent.

Headlining the music festival’s first night presented by 89X is The Detroit Pony Express. Also featured Friday is The Madison Opera, and Michael Seger and Everybody’s Favorite Band. Saturday night is presented by 93.9 the River featuring Detroit singer/songwriters Robin Horloch and Zach Kadro. Also performing Saturday is Head on Crisis.

The party will continue each night inside the Mills with no-cover shows starting at 10:30PM. Friday night features East Lansing’s Westrin & Mowry and Saturday night features 2 days Gone from Sterling Heights. Westrin & Mowry will also be performing an acoustic duo set on Thursday, April 22 (Earth Day) from 7-10PM.

“We are very pleased with the music line-up for our inaugural event. The Mills has developed a solid reputation for presenting quality entertainment in Northern Oakland county,” said David Youngman of the Pleszure Food Group, parent company to Rochester Mills Beer Co. and Mind Body & Spirits. “Ticket sales are expected to be brisk, which we equate to the affordable ticket price for so many great local bands. It’s a $10 ticket to a show that most festivals would charge $60 a ticket. We’re excited to bring all of them here for a good cause - our Greenhouse Grant Initiative. It’s all in the name of what Rochester Mills and Mind Body & Spirits stand behind, ‘sustainably practicing business and being a upstanding member of our community.’”

The Mind Body & Spirits Greenhouse Grant Initiative

The Greenhouse Grant Initiative was created to assist deserving organizations and schools wanting to erect and maintain a fully functioning greenhouse promoting urban farming, project-based learning and bringing locally grown produce to their members. The program will include direction, support and access to the horticultural expertise of Mind Body & Spirits, Michigan's first certified organic restaurant, and its network of Michigan farmers. The first scheduled recipient of a grant is the Judson Center. The greenhouse will be located at the Judson Center’s main site in Royal Oak, Michigan.
