This year,’s Earth Day media coverage will grow dramatically, with a major Earth Day publicity campaign directed at local and regional newspapers, TV and radio outlets, as well as a full advertising schedules with leading media including: CW50-TV and WWJ-TV (1.1 million combined viewers), WWJ Newsradio 950 (700,000 weekly listeners) and the Oakland Press & Macomb Daily (450,000 combined readership).
You Bring Your Network!
Media is very important but community events need word of mouth and networking. You can make an important contribution of your own with a few simple steps:
Send an announcement of your participation to your email to your list and include it your newsletters (see Event Announcement Example)
Include a listing in your events calendars; and, submit a listing to media calendars (left)
Leverage social media. Connect through Facebook and invite your friends to join our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/miearthday.
Hand out postcards to your customers and post posters at your store, office or other prominent locations. Pick these up at weekly meeting, 4-6pm Thursdays, at Mind, Body & Spirits, 3rd & Main in Rochester, or by appointment at our offices in the Rochester Mills Building, 400 Water Street, Suite 205.
Place a festival web logo, link, announcement or story on your website.
Prepare and send a press release describing your event participation.

Join Us at the MI Earth Day Fest
We are pleased to announce our participation in the
MI Earth Day Fest, to be held over the weekend of April 23rd-25th in downtown Rochester.
With an anticipated audience of 100,000, it will be Michigan’s largest earth day
celebration, and one of the largest in the country. The festival will highlight what’s
working in our communities and showcase leadership in green business, government
and non-profit programs. The event will offer 200+ green and wellness exhibits, top-notch
presentations, lively music & entertainment, organic food and drink, kids’ crafts
& activities, a portable farm, free massage and wellness activities, door prizes
and samples, networking, and more - all focused on earth-friendly, healthy living.
Special activities include a parade (Sat 10am), a 5K trail run (Sun 10am) and an
evening-hours Party for the Planet (Fri & Sat 7-11pm). A Preview Party will be held
on Earth Day (4/22, 7-9pm), where comedian Dave Coulier will act as emcee, several
dignitaries will speak, and MI Earth Day Award recipients will be honored. Special
guests include Dr. Kevin Danaher, founder of Global Exchange and the Green Festivals,
who will offer both public presentations and a community leader roundtable.
